This months paperlane challenge 'inspired by a book' - Alice in wonderland

Well I'm excited to say the Paperlane Challenges are starting again.
This months challenge is 'inspired by a book'

So with a little inspiration from Cas, as couldnt think how to tie the rubber stamps in to the book.
for my 'inspired by a book'
Alice in wonderland by Lewis Carroll which was wrote in 1865.Originally the book was called
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland but was commonly shortened to Alice in Wonderland
It is still a very popular book and enjoyable to both young and old.
So on the cover of my book card I wanted to include many of the key elements of the book .
Used magnolia stamp to portray Alice and of course the white rabbit.
Added some Tim Holtz tickets distressed with vintage photo ink,
white paint and homemade glimmer mist.
Stamped and coloured with copics the toadstools.
Just behind the handmade  red rose is the Cheshire Cat.
For the bottle I used a Tim Holtz bottle , added perfect pearls and glossy accents, added the label an the gold key so she can grow small to enter the small door.
Added a watch charm as the white rabbit was late of course
Added the playing cards the crown and the heart charm  to represent the queen of hearts.
View from the side.
Inside my book card is a scrapbook mini album
you untie the ribbon closure
and open the little door and inside is a quote from the book.
This then opens to revel pocket pages.
In the pocket is a small tag. and a larger tag that slides out of the top of the pocket page.
Each tag has a quote from the book, theses can be used as photo mats or for you to
journal on the back.
over the page
Here's a look at the next pages again tags with quotes.
And here is the back page of the mini.

and lastly the back of the inside of the book with mini album

I got a little carried away on this project. There were so many elements and quotes from the book, that the project just expanded and ran away with me.
I have a few favourite quotes from the book.

If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary-wise; what it is it wouldn't be, and what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?”

“If everybody minded their own business, the world would go around a great deal faster than it does.”

“Speak in French when you can’t think of the English for a thing--
turn your toes out when you walk---
And remember who you are!”

So now its your turn to show us on the paperlane challenge blog
A book that's inspired you!
Thank you for visiting my blog. Please feel free to leave comment or ask questions about the cards I make. All comments are truly appreciated.

Simply Gorjuss - Snowman stamp card

I liked the the tissue box I made for the the paperlane challenge - unconventional Christmas colours challenge.. (which is still and active challenge so hurry and get your entries in. This months prize is a copic markers storage case) I have 2 of these for my copic markers and I love it. So get your entry in to try win your copic markers storage case.
So as I was just saying I loved making the tissue box that I had to make a card to go with it. So this card has a lot of the same elements and technique's as the tissue box.
So the stamp of the snowman I used is by Simply Gorjuss
To picture the glitter on this card ( there's lots on this card trust me) is very hard to get it to sparkle on camera. Must be a little camera shy.
The card looks so much better in person.
I used the organza snowflake fabric again over the black card for extra sparkle.
There is so many layers and so much happening on this card but it all works
fabric over black card
white card layered with black swirl paper enhanced with stickles on swirls
memory box FROSTYVILLE BORDER Craft Die
also used the magnolia doohickey die
matted and layered the image
coloured with copic marker pens and added glitter glass
added some  holographic snowflakes thats I have had for years
also added black stick on crystals
topped off with a white snowflake chocolate box tied bow.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Please feel free to leave comment or ask questions about the cards I make. All comments are truly appreciated.

Unconventional Christmas Colours - This months paperlane challenge

Good Morning, This months challenge at the paperlane Is
So the colours that are out of bounds are Red, Green, and Blue!!!
So for this  Challenge I thought I would make a cute little tissue box. With this been the season we tend to get sniffles a snuffles. I think this will look great on your desk and would make good little gift to cheer someone up whos got a snotty nose.
So my unconventional Christmas colours were, blacks, grey, with a hint of purple
I really enjoyed making this. I used the pocket sized packs of tissues, Made the little box for tissues to go into, using my score board. Used spellbinders die to cut out tissue window
Added the back board to tissue box ready to decorate.
Don't you just love this cute snowman stamp by Simply gorjuss.
I coloured him with copic markers then added glitter/glass. Its more like crushed glass than glitter. The name of it escapes me, but the sell it at thepaperlane
Anyway I added this crushed glass to the head of the snowman and to parts of his body. Also to the snow drifts. The snow drifts were created by making a paper mask,  I ripped up post - it note paper
To give the ragged edge put it on image and used black on cut and dry foam to sponge on the drifts.

For the background I used the resist technique. After stamping the snowman I masking him off, Then used the snowflake stamp with versa embossing ink, added embossing powder, heat set it.
Then used black ink with the cut and dry foam over the stamped snowflakes,
to created the snowing night sky.
I used the beautiful black / grey coloured papers behind image. Cut to size layered it on white card.
Added silver stickles to the swirls on the paper. Added the ribbons. The Martha Stewart branch punch was used to add a little extra decoration. The sentiment I have used is from Craft stamper magazine. which you can buy from paperlane. I used the black crystal stones for snowman's eyes and around the card to add extra sparkle. Used the Tim holtz vintage market die to create the lettering.
Think that's about it. If I missed anything out and want to know how I did it. or what I used, just drop me a comment.

I hope you like it and that I have inspired you to join us this month paperlane challenge
 No reds, greens or blues!!!
If you click on the link above you will be able to see what lovely creations my fellow DT member's have crafted to give you some inspiration.
Now show us what you can do.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Please feel free to leave comment or ask questions about the cards I make. All comments are truly appreciated.

Snow flakes and Sparkles- Gingerbread house (molly bloom stamp)

Hi, Well this months challenge at the paperlane is Snowflakes and Sparkles. This Challenge was set by my fellow Design Team member Kerry. Why don't you go and cheek out some of her lovely cards she makes on her blog paw pads and inkpads. You can also find the other lovely ladies who are on the DT for the paperlane .They all do such lovely work and I'm sure they would love you to pay them a visit to their little crafting blogs.
Well this is my card  for this months challenge. I had this idea for this card sitting in my head since they released the Molly Bloom stamps for Christmas back in September time.
This is the front of the card. I used Lost and Found paper for the front of the card and embellished it a little, It didn't need much as, I wanted the inside of the card to be the main focal point.
The window is cut out from a template I found free on the Internet. I cut 2 of these out one slightly smaller and layered it on top. My template didn't have window sil so added that as an after thought. For the glass in the window I used and acetate sheet. Stamped it with a Great impressions snowflake image and  versa mark embossing ink and then sprinkled white embossing power, heated to set. I wanted to create the scene of you looking out of the window onto.
And here is the view from your card created window.
Just loved this stamp as soon as seen it. I just knew what I was going to do with it.
I stamped the image about 3 times. Then started planing which parts I was going to cut out to layer.
I started with the trees I cut all the parts there were to be covered in snow. Then the house its self was cut out. and its little window also. Then I cut out the sweet path and the lolly pops and jelly sweets.
For the snow on the trees and house roof, I used puff paint but it didn't puff up,maybe because it was ment to be used on fabric. But did  add texture this was then sprinkled with glamour dust. I also added stickles to create icicles along roof edges.
I thought I would add a little extra to the ginger bread house. So I cut around the door added a stick on pearl (changed pearl colour by adding colour with copic) to make door knob. So when you open the door you are greeted by a little gingerbread man all ready to come out and play with the other two whom are outside, having a little snowball fight. The little gingerbread men are a molly bloom stamp also. (Gingerbread garland Christmas 2010 range) I cut these out and coloured with copics.Added some pearl pen to create the little snowballs.
To give you a place to write your sentiment I added a tag that just slips behind the image.
I just used a postcard cut it to a tag shape. Distressed it with walnut stain. stamped with Christmas sentiment. Added some more glitter, a bell tied on with rustic twine.

I hope you like it and that I have inspired you to join us this month paperlane challenge.

Nellie Snellen - fairy on present (christmas card

Thought I had better get started as Christmas is not far away ... only 61 sleeps. So made a Christmas card to share with you. Ive had this little stamp about a month sitting on my desk. Its a Nellie Snellen stamp and shes just a little cutie.
I used lots of glitter in this card Yet picturing glitter and getting it to sparkle on my photos is difficult to show you effectively.
The fairy image was masked off. Then the  background was stamped with a
 Great Impressions wooden stamp.
I stamped it with chalk ink pixie pink. Then I added holographic embossing powder I have had for years, Heated it to set the embossing powder. Then I coloured fairy with copic markers.
Added lovely bronze gold coloured glitter to stars on image and glamour dust to fur trim of her jacket
layered my lace, ribbon and daisy trim that I think looks like snowflakes, added button clusters.

Don't know if you can see from pictures. I used some of this organza glittered snowflake fabric
over the top of my design papers. I have had it a year, seen it thought it looked lovely, bought it then thought what do I do with it. Then had a light bulb moment... I will layer it over the papers and it worked well with this card.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Please feel free to leave comment or ask questions about the cards I make. All comments are truly appreciated.

Oh don't forget only a few days left to get your entry's in for the thepaperlane challenge

The paperlane challenge 04 - Glitz and Sparkle

Well the new challenge at the paperlane is here again. This months challenge is Glitz and Sparkle.  So grab your glitters,  stickles and stamps, and get stamping, cutting, glittering, and colouring, to show us what lovely cards etc you can create. We look forward, as we  always  do every month to see what you have in store for us. On this challenge you can now use Molly Blooms or Magnolia Stamps. Why don't you pop on over to the paperlane challenge blogspot to see what the girls on the DT have made for this challenge.

For my card I choose to use a Magnolia stamp. Thought I would try a different fold as I have not used this style before. I think it worked out well the card just all came together.  I didn't have a definite idea of how I wanted the finished card to look . You know sometimes you plan the card out in you head, and know how you want the card to look when you finish. Well this was not one of them cards. I knew what fold style I wanted to use and that was about all.

I am still in my toad stool phase. It felt funny colouring it blue tho and I nearly gave up and scrapped it in favour of a red and white toad stool. But am glad I persevered with the blue.
The lost and found paper is my absolute favorite. It already has lots of sparkle but I couldn't restrain myself from adding more to it in the form of stickles and pearl pen, also crystals.
Even the paper rosettes I made got the stickles,  glitter, and crystals  makeover  with some cute organza ribbon treatment for  a little extra special look .
this is the inside of the card.
I wanted the card to be able to fold flat. The paper rosette would have been to bulky.
But I wanted to tie in the front of the card with the inside. So I used some of the spot ribbon to make the rosette for the inside. I just used a running stitch along edge and gathered it to form the rosette then added organza ribbon and another  sparkley crystal  to the center.

I hope you like it and that I have inspired you to join us this month at

Thank you for stopping at my blog. Feel free to leave a  comment, As they are truly appreciated
thank you.

Beautiful tilda - (magnolia butterfly dreams)

Hi, Hope you have had a lovely weekend. The sun is shining here at the moment.
But I am feeling the cold.
Today I would like to share my card I made a few weeks ago. From the title you will have guessed its a magnolia stamp From the butterfly dreams collection 2011
only have 2 magnolia stamps at present and this one you have already seen. It was used on the canvas bag I made. But I like to use my stamps over and over again on different projects. So you will see them again been used on new idea's and projects.
I just love the magnolia doohickey dies but they are a little expensive.
but a girls got to have what she like sometimes.
I like the delicate colours you can get by using your distress inks to colour your images.
Still like to use my copic markers, but with inks I seam to get more a of a look I'm happy with. Maybe I just need more practice with my copic colouring.
And here's the inside of the card, simple but compliments the front of the card.
Needed to make a box envelope to accommodate this card as the flowers made it to bulky to go in to regular envelope. I found a tutorial on how to make the envelope on this ladies blog site.
needed to adapt the measurement's to accommodate this card, as it was bigger than 6x6. Used the 12x12 Prima botanics paper for the envelope,
as I had used paper from same collection 6x6 paper pad for card.
I just love papers that have writing on or scrolls and flourishes, post cards images.

Just a little reminder, the challenge is still open at the paperlane this months challenge is
"Anything but a card"
So grab your molly bloom stamps and join us.
Entries need to be in by 28th September 2011 and this months lovely prize is a
character stamp from the BRAND NEW Molly Blooms 'Winter Wonderland Collection'!
The have some lovely stamps in this new collection.

Thank you for popping by today.

Lili of the valley - Sailing boat (Retirement card)

Hello, hope you are all well,  its cold today
its  been raining but sun just trying to show through, so hopefully it will warm up.
My Dad retired from work on Monday, So wanted to share with you the card I made for him.
One of my fav Lili of the valley stamps I know you have seen it a few times now.
But my Dads into boats, and he said he liked this stamp when I made the postcard for the paperlane
that was published in Craft stamper magazine
I don't think it shows to well on this picture, But I stamped the sails of the image again, cut out and curled a little, mounted on foam pads and glued edges down. To make the sails 3d and appear they were full with breeze.
So this is the inside of the card

Sorry image not to good but hope you get the idea. I made a banner with cream card cut the little triangles out inked edged, then used a page or 2 from an old yellowing dictionary, cut out more small triangles, stamped on letters to spell Happy Retirement. added a blue stickles around outline of flag.
Then strung together using crochet cotton, added foam pads to back side and hay presto 1 banner.

Recipe
6x6 plain white card blank
my minds eye design paper 1 sheet
other green paper on flourishes from my scraps box stash
smooth white card stock for image
selection of copic markers
image stamped with memento ink
Die cutters I used a few- spellbinders ones and Tim holtz
seam binding and buttons, stick on pearls too
oh and tim holtz tickets
also added Anita's 3-d clear gloss finish, to the hull of boat to give it shine and make it pop.
Distress ink used,  my usual one vintage photo

Anyway that's it for today from me.
Hope you have popped along to the paperlane challenge and are busy crafting away to come up with some wonderful creations to enter for  Shades of sunshine challenge this month.
I look forward to seeing what you have made.

TPLO1 Anything but square- Molly blooms

Morning,  Thanks for dropping by so what do I have for you today? If you have hopped on by to The Paperlane Blog in recent weeks you may know that Caz has launched the paperlane challenge blog. Where each month the DT and you will set new challenges.  You can share with us your lovely entry's to the challenge to win some fab candy.

This my first  entry to any challenges. also as a DT member. Hopefully there will be many more fun and exciting challenges in store.
This months challenge was Anything but square - and to use molly bloom stamps Molly or George  as main image.

So here's my submission to the challenge.
I went for something other than my usual card making and tried a shaker wall  hanging.
My idea was to make a summer seaside feel to it, hence the flags and colours used.  This stamp was just perfect as it looked like she was holding her dress up while she paddled in the sea.

Recipe
linen card, acetate, paper doily at the back, watercolour paper
nitwit paper- in the meadow
die Tim Holtz baroque large and smaller one
Stamps used molly blooms
pearl trim
2 brass shells toned down  with a wash of acrylic cream paint
stick on pearls
distress inks used to colour image
scattered straw, aged mahogany, chipped sapphire blue,
and yes vintage photo had to creep in some where (for the hair)
blue glitter for the sea of course
oh and some seam binding was used for the hanger.

So why dont you come and join us on the next challenge for a chance to win some lovely candy.
and while your ther you can see the lovely items myself and the other members of the DT created.
Hope to see your artistic flare put in to practice at the next challenge.
